Amazon is one of the world’s most important retailers. In fact, it accounts for almost 40% of all online sales in the US alone. And anybody can access any of the profits of the retail giant — you just need to have a website or a social network profile and register with the Amazon affiliate programme.
The affiliate programme of Amazon, also known as the Amazon Associates, helps users to monetise their websites, blogs, and social media. Amazon’s affiliate programme Amazon affiliate users simply place links to Amazon products on their website, and the user earns a fee when a customer buys a product from one of its links. Read on to learn how you can participate and explore ways to optimise your rewards in Amazon’s affiliate programme.
Amazon’s affiliate or related marketing services can be arranged where a website merchant, like Amazon, pays a fee to deliver traffic and/or sales to affiliate websites. Membership sites connect to a site of the merchant and payment is made under the agreements of the Program. For example, Amazon’s affiliate program pays affiliate websites depending on the number of individuals they send to Amazon who then shop on the site within 24 hours.
For both the broker and the participating participants there are several advantages of affiliate marketing. The trader has the chance to expand its scope and profits by cost-effective marketing. Owing to the success of affiliate marketing—affiliates are charged only when desired activity takes place — members of the affiliate program are also encouraged to execute conversions.
For associates, engaging in a partner marketing program enables them to compete without setting up or running a store for themselves in e-commerce. It also offers the chance to pay a fee and to create a website, blog, or social network.
Affiliate Marketing is of Three Types:
Payment on Each Sale:
In this program, when an affiliate sends a customer making a transaction, the dealer pays an affiliate. Some dealers pay a flat fee per sale to their affiliate, while others pay a percentage of the sale such as Amazon.
Payment on Each Click:
The affiliate will be billed under this agreement based on the number of users visiting the site of the retailer through the affiliate connection and the affiliate will be paying regardless of visitors making a purchase.
Payment on Each Lead:
This kind of program rewards associates based on the number of visitors who join or complete the necessary details on the web of the merchant.
This is how the Affiliate Program of Amazon work
Amazon Associates is simply a referral to a website reference commission. But if you send a client with a web connection to Amazon, you get a share of revenue of everything they buy over the next 24 hours.
Your commission depends on the kind of item a consumer buy. See the table below for the set regular rate for Amazon’s program fees for different product types.
It must be borne in mind that not the only factor in your commission is the amount of revenue you earn. Your success rate is also significant because it shows how many people really click on an affiliate connection and buy from your website.
Your conversion rate is the percentage of people who shop from a total number of visitors to your website via your affiliate connection. E.g., if 5,000 visitors and 10 of those visitors click on a connection to your affiliate during August this will be a 0.2 percent conversion rate.
The overall rate of conversion of associates is 0.5% to 1%. But some affiliates have even higher conversion rates daily.
Because you receive a share of what a buyer orders from Amazon from a business connection within 24 hours of their arrival at Amazon.com, you will have the opportunity to gain additional money from goods you do not directly advertise. For instance, you can purchase 10 percent of a high-end moisturizer, but also 8 percent of the cost of a package of dog treatments if the consumer also buys biscuits in a Beauty Blog which has a link to a beauty item that has a rate of 10 percent.
To receive a commission on orders from Amazon, however, a consumer must place an order from your referral page on Amazon.com within 24 hours. When this 24-hour window is closed – or when a consumer returns to Amazon with a connection from another business, no fees will be given to you on subsequent purchases.
However, a new 24-hour window opens, whenever the customer returns to Amazon from one of the referral links, then you are still allowed to collect payments for a customer’s order.
When a buyer comes to Amazon from one of its partner links, fills in an item in his buying cart, and leaves Amazon without order completion, you can still receive a percentage. If the order is ordered before the expiry of the shopping cart (usually 90 days) the postage charge will be charged to you if the item has been attached to the shopping cart within 24-hour windows.
Rules of Amazon Affiliate Program
Although the procedure is simple by itself, you must satisfy a variety of criteria and guidelines to become an Amazon Affiliate.
- Associates need to announce on their website that they can potentially earn from the links recommended throughout the site.
- Don’t make any false or deceptive claims when making recommendations.
- Since the prices fluctuate on Amazon, it is better to avoid mentioning any prices directly. There can be some exceptions to this rule.
- Amazon affiliate links cannot be used in eBooks, emails, or any other offline promotions.
- The Affiliate links should not be shortened or hampered.
Is the Affiliate Program of Amazon right for you?
There is a lot to consider before signing up for Amazon Associates. If you already have a website with suitable content that you can add affiliate links to, it can be a simple way to start earning additional income in the long-term.
However, if you’re creating a website from scratch intending to make it profitable via Amazon affiliate links, the process of launching a site and populating it with reviews and product-related content can be time-consuming. However, developing a niche site with optimization of affiliate links also has the possibility of becoming profitable in a small period of time.
